PRESS RELEASE 2009
The
5th annual 'JERSEY JAM 4 MS' FREE Charity Concert is in full swing!
Saturday
afternoon in the park, 3-7pm, June 13th 2009 at the McLaughlin Norcross Memorial
Dell, Haddon Lake Park, Haddon Heights NJ 08035, one of Camden County's premier
outdoor summer entertainment venues (sponsored by the Camden County
Freeholders).
This
years very special event stars local guitar legend Tommy Conwell with his new
rocking band and also features a most impressive top shelf cast of Delaware
Valley singer songwriters, performers and musicians, who have come together to
help raise funds and awareness for folks facing the debilitating effects of
multiple sclerosis. A devastating and crippling neurological disease that is
quickly becoming one of this nations worst life altering and life ending
illnesses for all too many people right in our own local communities.
Sharing
the stage this day with The Tommy Conwell Band will be one of Philly’s most
loved rising young stars Carsie Blanton, South Jersey’s own wonder woman Bo
Rains, the acoustic folk stylings of Terry Rivel & friends, the classic and
traditional sounds of Dave & Brian (featuring violinist Ellen Anderson), the
red hot rocking bands John Magill & The Have Nots and The Paisley Pickles,
starting off with the way cool reggae beats of The Groovement at 3pm. The master
of ceremonies is local folk godfather Ray Naylor and the show will encore around
6:30pm after Tommy’s headlining set with a rousing production featuring The
Friends Of The Barrington Coffeehouse Players followed by the official MS Guitar
Auction where the winner will receive a brand new Fender Stratocaster, donated
courtesy of Guitar Center of Cherry Hill.
In these bleak economic
times, fund raising for many charities has taken quiet a negative hit while the
disease shows no signs of slowing down. This concert is hosted by the MS
Challenge Walk and Bike Run activists ‘teaMSole’ and is intended to be a fun
and entertaining outlet for the cause as well as addressing the seriousness of
the issue. These two MS walk and bike events take place in separate weekends in
October. The music is free to enjoy but the capital is raised through donations.
All proceeds from this event benefit The National Multiple Sclerosis Society and
a second charity concert (also hosted by teaMSole) is slated for September that
will also benefit The MS Association Of America as well.
At the
core of the National MS Society’s vision is their commitment to creating a
world free of MS for 11,000 members in the Greater Delaware Valley. That means
offering a full slate of programs aimed at educating people about how to
overcome the disease’s physical, social and financial effects, as well as
customized direct services to address each individual’s specific needs.
But they don’t stop
there. The Society and this chapter fund numerous research projects into the
cause and cure of this disease. Something we’re all hoping to achieve in
everyone’s lifetime.
Come on out and together with these incredible entertainers be a part in the finest local feelgood concert event of the year helping to create a world without MS.
